6-HI MILL

The design of the 6 Hi Mill is a joint effort of CR Division and MECON. It is recognised by the government of India as a research project. It offers the following added benefits. · Level2 computerisation provided by Ansaldo Micro Systems and man machine interface · Fully flat shape of CRCA sheets through shiftable Inter Mediate Roll (IMR) shifting · Reduced edge drop through shiftable IMR and bender force · Better grain structure due to higher reduction · Thickness close to nominal through Auto Gauge Control (AGC) · Uniform properties of the total coil length through elongation control during skin pass · High productivity through higher speed of 800 metres per minute and auto slowdown · Absence of coil beaks through bridle arrangement

HYDROGEN ANNEALING

At CR Division, we boast of a semi automated Hydrogen Annealing equipment. Annealing is a process of heating, soaking and controlled cooling of coil in a non-oxidizing atmosphere. Metallurgically, the annealing process relieves the stresses developed by Cold Rolling and renders the strip soft and restores its ductility and formability. Hydrogen annealing furnaces use 100% hydrogen atmosphere, resulting in bright surface of the material. The semi automated feature of the furnace, help us maintain accuracy in operation enabling us to give consistent quality. M/s Allied Consulting Engineers Ltd, having technical collaboration with M/s Stein Heurty, France, installed the Hydrogen Annealing at Hero CR Division.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE FROM KAWASAKI STEEL
In our drive to satisfy our customer better, we at CR Division have tied up with Kawasaki Steel corporation of Japan for technical assistance. Kawasaki Steel is the fourth largest steel manufacturer in Japan, and has been an established player in the steel industry for over fifty years. They have two fully integrated steel plants in Japan, and have their presence in various countries in Asia, Europe and the United States.
We intend to use the technical know-how and the experience of Kawasaki to ensure a more satisfied customer.

SAP R/3
The company went live with SAP R/3 Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software in February 2001. This system is helping us offer our customer better service through the creation of a transparent system, ensuring better communication and providing reliable analytical tools.
SAP is among the most popular ERP system in the world, and has been the key behind the success of many businesses.
